Phil Downer, president, Discipleship Network of America (DNA) military, talks to Marines and Sailors during the National Day of Prayer breakfast at the 22 Area Chow Hall at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, May 2, 2019. The National Day of Prayer is a day of recognition for the freedom of religion and the freedom to pray in our country.
There are many religions practiced in the United States, and many of them are practiced on various installations throughout the Marine Corps, to include MCB Camp Pendleton. Chaplains offer care and guidance to service members while facilitating religious needs.
“Our lord cares about us and wants a relationship with us,” said Downer. “A strong relationship with our lord is founded on strong prayer life.”
