Operation Hickory Sting – Mass Casualty Lane, 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team at NTC

Medical Soldiers assigned to the 145th Armored Regiment, Ohio National Guard, conduct a mass-casualty lane in support of Operation Hickory Sting, Fort Irwin, California, July 12, 2019. Operation Hickory Sting is a decisive action rotation focused on combined arms maneuver and collective gunnery at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, in order to validate the capabilities of the 30th in the training environment and provide a globally responsive brigade ready to deploy, fight and win.

Local Huehuetenango Support for Beyond the Horizon Surgeries

Chaplain Lt. Col. Andrew Werner, Delaware Army National Guard, met with Parrish Priest Selvin Giovani Alva Mérida, July 10 in Huehuetenango, Guatemala to discuss free medical services for Guatemalan citizens provided by Beyond the Horizon 2019, a joint training exercise between the U.S. and Guatemalan militaries. On July 15, plastic surgeons will perform surgeries to correct deformities of the mouth and hands. Local partnership increases the reach and effectiveness of Beyond the Horizon. As a result of this meeting, the Parrish Priest decided to assist by broadcasting the surgical event on local radio, 98.1 FM, as well as local television on Astro Satelite, channel 36.
