Watching her husband and other Soldiers in the 1st Battalion, 128th Infantry of the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team work through their deployment experiences in 2004, Jennifer Kuhnert realized that faith and spirituality can play a valuable role in that transition. That was when she first recognized the call to be a chaplain.

Chaplain Lt. Col. Andrew Werner, Delaware Army National Guard, met with Parrish Priest Selvin Giovani Alva Mérida, July 10 in Huehuetenango, Guatemala to discuss free medical services for Guatemalan citizens provided by Beyond the Horizon 2019, a joint training exercise between the U.S. and Guatemalan militaries. On July 15, plastic surgeons will perform surgeries to correct deformities of the mouth and hands. Local partnership increases the reach and effectiveness of Beyond the Horizon. As a result of this meeting, the Parrish Priest decided to assist by broadcasting the surgical event on local radio, 98.1 FM, as well as local television on Astro Satelite, channel 36.
