Coast Guard response crews hold a memorial ceremony led by chaplain Lt. Cmdr. John Sears during oil recovery operations aboard the M/V SHELIA BORDELON. The Coast Guard discovered a significant amount of oil in cargo and fuel tanks during onsite assessments of the Coimbra in May 2019. Washington, D.C.–Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin K. McAleenan and Coast Guard Commandant Karl Schultz presents 10 Purple Heart Medals to descendants of the USS TAMPA during a Memorial Day Observance ceremony at Coast Guard headquarters. Also during the event, the Coast Guard Purple Heart Memorial Wall will be on display.
